Providence begins season at Springhorn Classic
The two-man crew from Providence Christian High rain in their first meet of the season Sept. 4, taking part in the Bill Springhorn Classic on the course at Shasta College in Redding.
Senior Joshua Reese covered the flat three-mile course in 17 minutes, 31 seconds, which was the 20th fastest of 62 competitors. Tucker Hoffman, a sophomore, ran an 18:06, which was 33rd.
The winning time of 14:28 was turned in by Enterprise's Domenic D'Acquisto.

Trojans trounce Lindhurst
The Sept. 3 game between Orland High and Lindhurst was decided early on in Orland, as the Trojans raced out to 21 first-quarter points in a 40-0 shutout.
Jordan Long connected with Aldrick Rosas on a 51-yard scoring pass, Zac Garzoli scored on a six-yard carry, and Benito Garcia bulled it in from a yard out, all in the opening period. Rosas also made good on all three PATs.
Chris Hood sprinted 68 yards to the end zone with a second-quarter punt return, and Long scored on a three-yard keeper, making it 34-0 at intermission.
Mitchell McClough then capped the scoring with a one-yard plunge in the third quarter.
Publication of the results was delayed until Tri-County Newspapers obtained a complete roster.
