Trojans hold off LP for victory on the road
The Orland High boys basketball team held leads of 32-21 after the first half and 47-32 after three periods Friday, and were able to weather a 16-9 fourth-quarter storm by Las Plumas to put up a 56-48 win on the road in Oroville.
Stephen Batchelder posted yet another double-double for the Trojans, recording team highs in scoring (15 points) and rebounds (15). Ethan Schmeltzer found his mark from long range for three 3-pointers, in his 13-point outing, and Jud Sailsbery made an 11-point contribution.
Jose Huerta also scored eight points for the Trojans, who shot 42 percent from the field (20-of-48), and went 11-of-18 from the line.
Huerta earned team honors in assists, with five, and steals, with a pair.
The Trojans upped their record to 14-7, and 3-2 in the Butte View League. This week, Orland has a Friday game at Wheatland on tap.
