Sports Briefs - July 23

Orland High School physicals
Free Sports Physicals will be given on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 from 2 to 4:30 P.M. at Dr. Tye and Associates office located at 1361 Cortina Drive. Any athlete who plans to participate on a team this year will need a current physical on file with the athletic director. Forms can be picked up at the High School office and they must have a parent’s signature to be valid. Forms will also be available at Dr. Tye’s office on the day of the physical but avoid delays by picking up your form early, filling it out with all the correct information and signatures.

Orland High sport start dates
The fall sports season will begin at Orland High School for the following teams on the designated days.

Football preseason conditioning will be held August 4 through 8 in the mornings from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Practice begins on August 11 at 3:30 p.m.

Volleyball began outdoor training this week from July 21-24 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tryouts are at the CK Price gym on July 28-31, varsity at 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and junior varsity from 10:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Frosh will try out from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Girls tennis begins on August 11 at the tennis courts at 4 p.m.

Swimming will have a team meeting on August 11 after school.

Lions Game tickets
Tickets for the 31st annual Lions All-Star Football Game, which will be played at Harrison Stadium in Oroville this year, can be purchased at The Bodyworks in Willows.

The game is set for Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Men’s Fastpitch League
The final games of the Orland Men’s Fastpitch League are set for tonight at Lely Aquatic Park. Watt and Budweiser play on the North field and MEH and R&R Sales play on the South field at 7 p.m. Watt will take on Swearinger at 8:40 p.m. on the South field.
