Providence sophomore Daniel Field looks for some against Mercy's smothering defense during Friday night's 67-23 loss in Red Bluff.

Providence shown no mercy in non-league tilt

The Providence Christian High boys basketball team had a tall order to fill Friday, taking the floor in Red Bluff against non-league foe Mercy, and were unable to spoil the Warriors' winter homecoming, losing 67-23.

Caleb Skeleton paced Providence's scoring with nine points, followed by Leland Prior (5) and two apiece from Pete Parker, Micah Danley, Ben Manthei and Daniel Field.

Mercy was boosted by 13 points by Ali Syed, 10 from Aaron Gash, and a balanced effort that saw 10 different players score on the night.

Providence hosts Herlong today at Maywood Middle School in Corning, and makes a Friday trip to Princeton.
