Trojans conquer all in Durham

They came, they saw and they conquered, as Orland High's varsity boys basketball team went 3-0 to bring home the crown from the Herb Jergentz Tournament held over the weekend at Durham High.

Play began Thursday with the Trojans coming back from a 5-point deficit after the first quarter to down Oroville 64-49.

Jud Sailsbery's strong all-around performance included 25 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with making three steals and drawing a pair of charging fouls.

Kavi Ram poured in 17 points and Jordan Long added seven.

James Wiseman collected eight rebounds, with seven coming on the offensive glass.

Luke Jeffery was Oroville's top scorer with 12 points, and Chris White tacked on 11.

On Friday, Sailsbery's 19 points and 15 from Ram propelled the Trojans to a 52-44 victory over Central Valley.

Eneas Rosales had seven points for Orland, with Ram's eight boards and seven by Sailsbery pacing the Trojans' rebounding effort.

Saturday's championship contest was not much of a contest at all, as Orland won easily 67-36 over Durham.

Sailsbery led Orland in every category, with 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists, four steals, four deflections and a charge.

Ram was again in double digits with 14 points, as a total of nine Trojans shot their way into the scoring column.

Sailsbery was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player, with teammates Ram and Long being named to the all-tournament team.

Orland (4-0) played in Willows on Tuesday, and will be on the court this weekend in the Sutter Tournament.
