Varsity Boys Basketball
Orland 60, Sutter 40
The Orland High varsity boys varsity basketball team won at home on Tuesday evening against BVL rival Sutter.
Kavi Ram poured in 16 points during the Trojans' victory, while Andrew Hutchens and Jud Sailsbery added 15 each and Jordan Long contributed five.
Sailsbery made a complete night of it, tallying eight assists during the win, racking up two steals and also leading the team with six rebounds. Hutchens followed Sailsbery with five rebounds and Javone Bradford pitched in four.
Orland (14-6, 2-0 BVL hosted Wheatland Friday evening and visits Winters Tuesday.
Hamilton 60, Biggs 19
Everything worked right for the Braves Wednesday, as they improved to 9-9 on the year and 3-0 in the MVL-North.
Hamilton hosted East Nic on Friday, and plays at Esparto Tuesday.
Varsity Girls Basketball
Orland 67, Sutter 41
The Lady Trojans downed Sutter on Tuesday 67-4, bringing record to 11-9 (2-0 BVL).
Lissette Gomez went off for a season-high 24 points, while also double-doubling with 10 rebounds.
Layela Ealy followed with 19 points and Destiny Thompson, 10.
Orland played at Wheatland Friday and welcomes Winters Tuesday.
Hamilton 60, Biggs 32
The Hamilton High varsity girls won at Biggs Tuesday night to improve to 18-0 on the year.
Hamilton came out slow, but pulled away from Biggs in the second quarter and never slowed down.
Aubrey Bekendam racked up 20 points for the Lady Braves, with teammates Audra Jones adding 14 and Sonia Leal tacking on 12. Bekendam was 8-of-10 at the line, also totaling 13 rebounds and a team-high five steals. Jones got to 11 total rebounds, and Itzel Duran, eight.
The Braves hosted East Nicolaus on Friday.
Girls Soccer
Orland 2, Gridley 0
Orland High's girls soccer team won at home on Tuesday against Gridley.
Angelica Moralez and Mireya Lopez each scored a goal during the Trojans' win, while keeper Clarissa Esquivel earned a shutout during the meeting.
Halfbacks Julie Garcia and Noemi Parra were standout players during the matchup, according to coach Tim Milhorn.
Boys Soccer
Orland 6, Las Plumas 0
The Trojans walloped Gridley Tuesday, improving to 14-0-1 on the season and 9-0 atop the BVL standings.
JV Boys Basketball
Sutter 43, Orland 30
Tyler Batchelder netted 12 points and Levy Williams added six, but it was not enough to prevent the Trojans from falling to 7-7 (1-1 BVL) Tuesday.
JV Wrestling
Orland 64, Wheatland 12
Orland's junior-varsity team forfeited in the 222-pound weight class but lost just one other match to earn a 64-12 win. Eight Trojans secured pins during the meet.
Youth Wrestling
Jr. Trojans 64, Sharks 28
The Orland Jr. Trojans hosted the Corning Sharks on Thursday, and came away with the dual win.
Winning by pinfall were Austin James (100 lbs.), Sergio Parry (142) and Carlos Martinez (168), while Ricky Landeros (83), Yonathan Esquivel (95) and Christian Pyle earned decisions.
