Orland 'O' for East Nic

The Orland High volleyball team encountered an opponent that would bend, but not break Wednesday, as the Lady Trojans were swept by the Spartans 18-25, 9-25, 15-25 in East Nicolaus.

Laeyla Ealy led the Orland effort at the net, jamming down seven kills out of the team total of 16.

The Spartans had Emily Toledo counter that with 11 of her own, as East Nic finished with 25.

Jessica Bonesio sent five serves to the point of no return for Orland, but the Trojans' serve-receive faltered to allow 20 aces from the opposite side of the net.

The Trojans dropped to 1-4 on the season, but will try to get their game on track in this weekend's tournament in Durham.

A busy schedule next week finds Orland playing at Willows Tuesday, before hosting Hamilton and Paradise on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
