Lone goal enough for Lady Trojans

While they haven't exactly been blowing holes through opponents nets, the Orland High girls soccer team had just enough Monday to record its second straight 1-0 victory, this one at Oroville. The whitewashing followed a 1-0 home win Jan. 29 over Willows.

Vonna Salinas found the back of the net on a shot from 20 yards in the first half, and the goal stood to help Orland improve to 6-5-2 on the season, and 5-3-2 in the Butte View League.

Midfielder Melissa Mercado and forward Marci Rosales were credited with playing well for Orland.

Esme Esquivel only saw action with three shots on goal, stopping all of them.

The Lady Trojans traveled to Gridley Thursday, hoping to avenge a 1-1 tie in the two teams' previous meeting Jan. 12 in Orland.
