Lady Braves bounce East Nic
The Hamilton High girls basketball team completely dismantled East Nicolaus on the road Tuesday, burying the Spartans 66-31 to improve to 18-2 overall and 7-0 in the Mid-Valley League. The Braves visited Fair Oaks on Thursday to play Sacramento Waldorf, before returning to Hamilton City on Friday to welcome Esparto.
Next week, Hamilton travels to Los Molinos on Tuesday, and hosts Biggs Thursday.
Hamilton soccer blanked at Pierce
Finding the back of the net proved futile for the Hamilton High boys soccer team Tuesday, as they were blanked 2-0 by Pierce in Arbuckle. Hamilton (7-5-1, 7-4-1 Sacramento Valley League) visited Willows Thursday.
The Braves close out the regular season next week with a game at Esparto Tuesday, and welcome Rio Vista to town Thursday.
Last chance to sign up for Orland Little League
The Orland Little League is conducting last-chance sign-ups and player evaluations today and Feb. 13 on the majors field at Lely Aquatic Park, at 10 a.m. both days. Cost is $50. Players are eligible if they live in the Orland area and will be at least 7 years old before May 1.

Globetrotters dribble into Redding
The world-renowned Harlem Globetrotters are bringing their special brand of hardcourt hijinks to Redding for one night only. The clown princes of basketball will perform at 7 p.m. April 20 at Shasta College. Tickets start at $24 and are available at www.ticketweb.com.
Orland teeing up city golf tourney
The first annual City of Orland Golf Tournament is being held March 28 at the Glenn Golf and Country Club, with proceeds going to the Orland Library and recreation Department. Cost is $75 per person for the best-ball scramble, which includes prizes for men's and women's teams. Golfers may sign up individually or in a team of four, at the Orland Recreation Center, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration deadline is March 23.
Registration for Orland T-ball underway
Registration for children ages 4-6 who are interested in playing T-ball is currently being held at the Orland Recreation Center, Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Cost is $30. Games will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday mornings, from March 6 to May 22. Volunteer coaches are also needed. Registration deadline is March 1.
Slow-break hoops tipping off in Orland
Registration is now being held for teams of players ages 35 and over for Slow-break Basketball, with games being played Wednesdays at 6:15 and 7:15 p.m., beginning Feb. 10. Cost is $150 per team. Registration is Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Orland Recreation Center.
Orland Rec hosting youth hoops camp
The Orland Recreation Department is hosting a youth basketball camp for kids ages 8-12 Feb. 15-19. The camp costs $25 per child and is open to the first 35 children registered. The camp is being conducted from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Orland Recreation Center. Sign-ups are being accepted Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Orland Recreation Center. Registration deadline is Feb. 14.

Do you know any area athlete whose accomplishments in his or her particular sport are noteworthy? If so, Tri-County Newspapers would enjoy hearing about them so we can highlight their outstanding or unconventional feats in a future feature story. We are looking for story ideas to run along with the normal coverage of the high school sports scene. These could be about athletes of any age, involved in any sport, whose story would be interesting to sports enthusiasts in the area.

American Legion holding tryouts
The Westside American Legion summer baseball program is hosting mandatory tryouts on Saturday, Feb. 13, at noon at Corning High School. The program anticipates fielding both 19U "A" Warriors and 17U "B" Braves clubs this summer.
