Lions saddle Mustangs with loss
The first and fourth quarters were the difference for the Providence Christian High boys on Friday, as the Lions went on the road for a 57-40 win over Champion Christian.
Providence was outscored 28-24 across the second and third periods, but held a 33-12 advantage in the other two.
Seth Danley scored a career-high 23 points that included a trey and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line, but Matthew Reese led all scorers with 26 points., which also included a 3-pointer. The Lions shot just 45 percent from the stripe, converting 11 of 24 attempts.
Danley commanded 17 rebounds for a double-double, with Reese earning his by collecting 12 steals.
Tucker Hoffman added six points for the Lions (6-12, 3-4 Pioneer-Valley League), and Hoffman and Reese both grabbed six rebounds.
The Lions host Redding Adventist on Thursday.
