Lady Trojans defend home court

A well-balanced scoring attack reaped big rewards for Orland High's girls basketball team on Tuesday, in the form of a 53-43 win at home over Wheatland.

Willow Hibbard and Jessica James put up matching 13-point performances, and Destiny Thompson also scored in double figures with 11.

If that wasn't enough for the Lady Pirates to contend with, Demi Velasquez finished with eight points and Dominique Walker added six.

Hustle was also a key part of Orland's game, as Thompson earned a double-double with 11 rebounds, and the Lady Trojans combined for 15 steals.

Velasquez picked off five, Thompson made four and Walker, three.

Orland raised its record to 7-18 overall and improved to 2-5 in the Butte View League.

The Lady Trojans wrapped up play Friday in Winters.
