Area volleyball squads courting success

The high school gymnasiums in the tri-county are currently hotbeds of activity, as the various volleyball programs continue fine-tuning their games in preparation for what is sure to be an extremely competitive season.

A number of the local squads hope to build on the success of last season, which saw Mercy (Tri-Cities League), Providence Christian (Pioneer League) and Hamilton (Mid-Valley League) all capture their respective league titles, with the Lady Braves also notching the Northern Section Division V championship.

Los Molinos and Orland also posted winning records on the year, and hope to keep their programs moving in a positive direction.

As for the others, a year of experience - coupled in some cases players getting even more time on club teams - can only help their chances of becoming volleyball forces to be reckoned with in the Northern Section.
