Beaver's 21 dams Elk Creek
Providence Christian High's Tomas Beaver got busy on the home floor Tuesday, scoring a season-high 21 points to help the Lions earn their second win of the season with a 42-36 decision over Elk Creek.
The senior also finished off a sparkling all-around performance by muscling his way to a team-best 15 rebounds for a double-double.
Matthew Reese made a 15-point contribution to the winning effort, including 6-of-12 from the free-throw line, although the Lions hit just 9-of-21 attempts from the stripe.
Seth Danley skied for 14 rebounds, and also rejected four shots, while Reese pestered the Elks with seven steals.
Elk Creek was led by Keith Morinda's 16 points, and eight from Brian Morales.
Providence improved to 2-12 overall with the victory, and upped its Pioneer-Valley League mark to 1-2.
The Lions played at Paradise Adventist on Thursday.
Elk Creek (0-6, 0-5 PVL) play at Princeton Tuesday.
