Colusa juniors are the champs

The Colusa Little League junior softball all-stars edged Live Oak, 7-5, on Monday night at Wheatland to take home the District 2 title.

With the win, Colusa advances to the Sectional Tournament hosted by District 2 and Wheatland Little League, which began Thursday at 6 p.m.

Bayleigh Salazar went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and Andi Robledo scored two runs and was also 2-for-4 to lead Colusa, which broke open a 4-4 tie with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Jani Bowen and Tiffany Friel each added a double for Colusa.

Bowen picked up the win in the circle, pitching six innings and striking out five batters.

During the tournament, Colusa defeated Westside 14-2, West Shore 12-5 and 21-4 and Live Oak 4-3 and 7-5. Colusa is 22-0 for the season.
