Rollover on I-5 claims 1
An elderly Livermore woman was killed in a rollover accident on Interstate 5, just north of the Delevan turnoff, about 4 p.m. Tuesday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Dianna Link, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency service personnel had to tear open the Chevrolet pickup truck to pull her from the wreckage.
Her husband, Steve Cary, 67, was uninjured, the CHP reported.
"It does not appear drugs or alcohol was a factor," said CHP information officer John Waggoner.
The couple were apparently on their way to Washington when Link let the truck drift into the center divide, the CHP reported.
She overcorrected in an attempt to get back into the traffic lane, she crossed over the highway and rolled the pickup, which came to rest on its roof, on top of a barbed-wire fence next to a rice field, the CHP reported.
Despite the crushed cab, Cary was able to pull himself free.
