Man arrested for child molestation
An Orland man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl, police reported.
Christopher Jasen Rush, 24, of the 700 block of Date Street, is charged with two felony counts each of sexual penetration with a foreign object with a minor and oral copulation with a victim 10-years-old or younger, Glenn County Jail booking records state.
Orland police arrested Rush at his home without incident, following a four-month investigation, police Chief Paula Carr said.
Police filed a complaint with the Glenn County District Attorney’s Office in February and the felony arrest warrant was issued March 11, Carr said.
If convicted, Rush could face more than 30 years in state prison.
Carr said Rush was “known to the victim and her family.”
Police received a report from Glenn County Child Protective Services on Oct. 30 last year.
The reported abuse is believed to have taken place on multiple occasion over the summer of 2009, Carr said.
“This was not just a one-time thing,” Carr said.
Rush remains in custody in lieu of $400,000 bail, a jail spokeswoman confirmed.
