Police release sketch of phony cop suspect

Glenn County authorities have released a sketch of a man who allegedly posed as a police officer and assaulted a 19-year-old woman.

The alleged victim told the Willows Journal she was followed on June 23 from Orland on Highway 32 to the boat launching area of Irvine Finch park in Hamilton City. She was told she’d been stopped for “excessive noise.” With a flashlight continuously pointed in her face, the girl was ordered out of the car and frisked “in an inappropriate manner” and then let her go, she said.

Sheriff’s Lt. Richard Warren said investigators from the Major Crimes Unit are taking the case “very seriously.”

“We’re actively working all possible leads and doing everything we can to locate this person,” Warren said Thursday.

The man is described between 6 feet and 6-2 in height; dirty blonde or light brown hair, with crows feet and lines on his forehead and appeared to be about 40 years old. He was driving an older black and white Ford Crown Victoria.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Glenn County Sheriff’s Office at 934-6722.
