Driver arrested in Bogue Road crash; car into ditch in Sutter
A Yuba City man who later failed a sobriety test caused a traffic accident this afternoon and banged up four vehicles but caused no injuries.
At about 4:30 p.m., Scott Gregory Fennel, 42, was headed east on Bogue Road when he saw eastbound traffic stopped at the Highway 99 stoplight, according to the Yuba-Sutter CHP.
Fennel tried to swerve but still clipped the last of three vehicles waiting, a minivan. The accident spun the minivan around and caused it to clip a Dodge Durango, which in turn rear-ended a GMC Sierra pickup at the front of the line.
No one was injured, though the minivan caught fire, which was extinguished by Yuba City and Sutter County firefighters. Bogue Road was closed for about 45 minutes after the accident.
CHP Officer John Sowles gave Fennel a Breathalyzer test, which he said Fennel failed. Fennel was arrested on suspicion of driving while drunk and taken to Sutter County Jail.
Also this afternoon, an accident at Mulberry Street and South Butte Road in Sutter was reported at 4:43 and involved a vehicle rear-ending another vehicle and then rolling onto its roof into a ditch, according to the CHP. No other information was immediately available.
