Live Oak sex-abuse suspect tracked down in Florida

A Live Oak man has been arrested on charges of lewd conduct with two 11-year-old girls.

Alexander Ricardo Gomez, 43, of the 2400 block of Archer Avenue, was arrested Thursday at the Suwanne County Sheriff's Department in Florida and brought to Sutter County. He was being held Friday on $1 million bail.

Gomez, a long-haul trucker, has been sought since March 2009, said Lt. James Casner of the Sutter County Sheriff's Department.

"We've been trying to catch up to him for some time," he said.

It was not clear if Gomez ever returned to Live Oak during the search, Casner said.

One of the girls is related to Gomez and the other was a friend of his family, said Casner.

One of the incidents allegedly happened in 2001 but was not reported until 2006, with the second incident occurring in February 2009, he said. Both girls were 11 at the time of the incidents, he said.
