Exchange Club honors students
The Corning Exchange Club presented certificates and gifts to four outstanding students selected by their respective schools as Students of the Month for February during a breakfast meeting on Feb. 29.
"The Exchange Club wishes these students well in achieving their future goals, and we would also like to recognize and thank all dedicated teachers and involved parents that make it possible for our communities children to learn and excel," said Corning Exchange Club member Dean Cofer.
• Cassandra Sanchez, a fifth grade Olive View School and teacher Ms. Bacigalupi, was one of the selected students. She enjoys reading and playing games. Her plans are to study hard and become a Pediatrician after attending the University of California at Davis.
• Mirella Sanchez, eighth grade student at Maywood Middle School, is a member of the California Junior Scholastic Federation and AVID, and volunteers her time at the state preschool and kids youth group in Orland. She plans to attend Cal Poly and become a Bio Medical Engineer. She is working hard to achieve her goal of maintaining a 4.0 grade average at Maywood and Corning High School.
• Autumn Smith, a senior at Centennial High School, is active in the ROP club at Centennial and enjoys music, friends and reading. She hopes to attend college with the goal of becoming a doctor.
• Rogelio (Roy) Madrigal is a senior at Corning High School where he has been a Cardinal football player for four years, and on the wrestling team for three years. His goal is to attend Chico State and achieve a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
