Letter: Senior housing topic of community forum
We are trying to reach seniors, boomers and young adults about concerns of senior housing.
There is a grassroots effort at this time to get help to build a new senior facility in Willows. What we need now is interest and communication; spread the word. Willows needs more assistance for the seniors.
Escaton JFK, the only one in Willows, has a two-year waiting list. Many seniors are now living alone without family or help available to them. Being, or having good neighbors, means a lot to these adults who want to be independent, but realize that they need help. But where to turn?
Moving to Chico facilities has meant separation for many of our friends and relatives. Please think about it, be aware of how many could be served right now or very soon down the road.
Hope is high for cooperation from the city and county and people like you to back the effort.
There will be another meeting of the Willows Citizens for Senior Housing on Jan. 21 at the Senior Nutrition site, 554 E. Sycamore St. in Willows.
Steve Holsinger, city manager, will be the guest to address senior's needs and share his vision for senior housing in Willows.
The meeting will be during the regular noon lunch time. The menu that day is meatball pasta. Please call, 934-6573 by Tuesday if you wish to "dine in."
