Letter: Lions, Post Office see great results

The postal workers of Willows and members of the Willows Lions Club gathered 478 glasses, thanks to the donations from residents of the community. A big thanks to Allan Junk and the ROP Printing Class of Willows High School for making the fliers.

This Willows Lions Club Project would not have been as successful without the advertising of the Tri-County Newspapers, Valley Mirror, Enterprise Record, Radio Stations: KPAY, KMXI and KHSL; and the Willows Chamber of Commerce.

The Lions would also like to thank Post Masters John Porter and Sheila Renihan and the Willows city, rural and contract carriers for their assistance. Because of all those efforts, 478 individuals will receive the gift of sight. The value to those who receive the glasses is beyond perception.

Eye glass collections boxes are left year-round at the Health Habit, The Body Works, Willows Pharmacy, Walmart and the office of Dr. McDonald and Dr. Robertson so residents may drop off eyeglasses at their convenience.

The Lions clubs also collects used hearing aids and cell phones for recycling and they can be dropped in the eyeglass collection boxes as well.

LaVonne Hinton

Event chairwoman, Willows Lions Club
