Otters host sign-ups
Sign-ups for the Orland Otter Swim Team will be held from 10 a.m. to noon today; 5 p.m. — 8 p.m. May 9; and 10 a.m. — 1 p.m. May 12 at the Carnegie Community Center, 912 Third St., Orland.
Swim season runs May 21 through Aug. 5 for $9 per week.

Memorial ceremony May 2
The fifth annual Peace Officer and Firefighter Memorial Ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. May 2 at the First Baptist Church, 154 N. Lassen St., Willows.
The public is invited to join local peace officers and firefighters in a tribute to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in 2011.
Additionally, there will be a special memorial for Glenn County Law Enforcement and Firefighters lost in the line of duty in the past.

Call for vendors
Glenn County Farmers Market is setting up a general store during the Glenn County Fair. Sell your products at the General Store from 9 a.m. — 8 p.m. May 17-20 and help the community to "Buy Fresh, Buy Local" by participating.
Vendors are highly encouraged to donate two hours of time to man the store during the fair.

Caffeine for Sober Grads
Dutch Bros. Coffee will host an OHS Safe & Sober Grad fundraiser from 5:30 a.m. — 5 p.m on May 3 at 904 Newville Road.
Dutch Bros. will donate $1 for each drink purchased. Mention Safe & Sober Grad.
Artist's reception May 4
Master carver Michael Buelna will be demonstrating his amazing wood carving techniques from 3 p.m. — 7 p.m. May 4 at the Orland Art Center, 732 Fourth St., Orland. Music and refreshments will also be provided.
Due to heavy schedules during the month of May for many of the art center's participants and models, the Figure Drawing Sessions are suspended for the month.
Sessions will begin again June 4.
Shriner's screening clinic set
A Shriners Screening Clinic will be held beginning at 9 a.m. May 19 at Glenn Medical Center, 1133 W. Sycamore St., Willows.
The medical screening clinic is free of charge and is open to all children under 18 years of age.
The screening clinic will have professional medical personnel on site to perform medical evaluations in order to identify children who can benefit from the expert medical care provided at Shriner's Hospitals.

Golf tournament slated
Orland High Athletic Boosters is holding its annual golf tournament on May 6 at Glenn Golf Course. Registration opens at 8 a.m., with a 9 a.m. tee-time.

Pastel weekend workshop soon
Mary Amicarella will hold a Pastel Weekend Workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 19-20 at the Orland Art Center, 732 Fourth St., Orland.
The fee is $125 and includes lunch both days.
A deposit of $25 by May 1 will hold your space.
