Tractor Days begins Saturday
As many as 200 vintage tractors will be on display at the eighth annual Vintage Tractor Days on Saturday and Sunday in Oregon House.
Organizers promote it as the largest vintage agricultural event in the North State, featuring a variety of new attractions to its usual line-up of tractor games, parades, driver competitions, and hay rides.
A new historical display of major inventions in agricultural machinery will be featured this year for the first time. It will have 13 stations, each highlighting an invention which resulted in substantially increased agricultural production.
A great deal of research, acquisition, and development has gone into the presentation of the Inventions Tour, which is part of the ongoing education element of the Vintage Tractor Days.
The festival also includes dancing tractors, featuring a team of expert drivers who call themselves the Exhibitionists. They will perform choreographed moves and patterns to square dance and quadrille tunes including John Deere Green, Grandpa, and International Harvester.
The event is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday, right before the drawing of the winning 50-50 raffle ticket for the now famous Pink Tractor which has raised about $20,000. Proceeds are shared between the American Cancer Society and the Community Center.
Vintage Tractor Days is held at Eventful Acres farm, 9454 Yuba Ranch Way, Oregon House, which is the first right after the Post Office off Marysville Road.
Volunteers will be scattered to help with parking, and a shuttle service is available for $5.
