Community Briefs: Informational night is tonight

The Orland High School Counseling Department will hold an informational meeting tonight for eighth-greaders who will be freshmen next fall.

Representatives from OHS clubs will be available from 6-6:30 p.m. providing information and answering questions in the Media Center.

At 6:30 the counselors will cover graduation requirements, Career Technical Education, college entrance requirements and the registration process at Orland High School.

 

Donate for rummage sale

Donations for the 62nd annual Orland Women's Improvement Club's rummage sale will be accepted today and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Flaherty Hall at the Glenn County Fairgrounds, 221 E. Yolo St., Orland.

Proceeds support books for the library, scholarships, sports and various worthy causes in the Orland area.

Adult and children's clothing, furniture, household items, jewelry, linens, small appliances and toys are needed.

Computers, large appliances, mattresses and telephones will not be accepted.

Pickup and storage can be arranged by calling Chris Stifter at 519-3174.

 

4-H fundraiser is Saturday

The annual Glenn County 4-H fundraising dinner will be held from 3:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Monica's Parish Hall, 1129 W. Wood St., Willows.

Tickets are $10 and include tri-tip, rice, salad, roll, cookie and a drink. Tickets are available from any 4-H member, at the door or by calling 865-1107. Take-out is also available.

A cake wheel and children's carnival will be available as well, and cake donations are appreciated.

 

Kindergarten registration set

Kindergarten registration for new students who will be entering Mill Street School in August will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1:30-3 p.m. March 29 for students who's last name begins with the letters A-L, and at the same times March 30 for children who's last names begin with the letters M-Z, 102 Mill St., Orland.

The child must be five years old on or before Dec. 2, 2012 to enroll.

Bring child's birth certificate or baptismal certificate, Social Security number and immunization record with you. Child does not need to be present for registration.
