Barbara Peterich
A funeral service is scheduled for Barbara Jean Peterich of Orland for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Federated Church of Orland, 709 First St. Interment will follow at the Oddfellows Cemetery on County Road P in Orland.
Barbara, 62, died at her home on Aug. 23, 2008, after a brave battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 19, 1946, in Chico to Paul and Dorothy Blacet. After attending Orland schools, she took some advanced courses in Bank Management. Barbara married Thomas Peterich in May of 1968, and was the co-owner of Peterich Cycle and Engineering. She also worked for Bank of America and retired after nearly 30 years of service. Barbara was a past Worthy Advisor for Rainbow Girls and belonged to various zoological societies. She enjoyed years of rescuing and raising a multitude of rare and exotic birds, reptiles, and other animals. She also loved to travel the world with her mother and sisters.
Survivors include her husband Thomas; mother Dorothy; and sisters, Patricia Smith and Carol Blacet, all of Orland. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Blacet and her brother Gary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacramento Zoo or the Orland Volunteer Fire Department c/o F.D. Sweet & Son Mortuary, 825 A Street, Orland, CA 95963.
