Quilt Guild to meet Monday
The Orland Quilt Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Federated Church, 709 First St., Orland. Goldie Olson of Chico will present a trunk show and share some of her techniques. Everyone is welcomed and refreshments will be served. For more information, call Melanie at 865-9610.
Pre-registration nights for Orland freshmen
Incoming Orland High School freshmen are encouraged to attend their assigned pre-registration night, located at the Orland High School Media Center from 5-8 p.m. Students need to bring their parents and a Course Request Form. Students who's last name begins with the letters A-L will meet tonight and students with last names M-Z , tomorrow. For more information, contact the counseling department at 865-1210 ext. 113.
Find the magic in science
From 5-7 p.m. on March 16, Flaherty Hall will be turned into a massive science fair arena and judges are still needed to judge. If you are interested in becoming a judge, contact Kathy Congdon at 865-1267, ext. 2101.
Youth football, cheer sign-ups coming soon
Sign-ups for Orland Aztecs Youth Football and Cheerleading for children ages 6-14 will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on March 17 and 18 and again from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 20 at the Pizza Factory in Orland. Please bring a copy of child's birth certificate, current wallet-sized photo and insurance information. 13 and 14 year old children must present proof of being in the Eighth grade.
Cost to play is $125 plus mandatory sale of 50 raffle tickets. All veteran players who signed up at the Awards Banquet must attend sign-ups to fill out paperwork and pick up raffle tickets.
Starting Over Strong (SOS)
Starting Over Strong is a non-profit organization that provides people access to information, forms and resources that address financial, social and legal barriers that discourage academic and professional success will hold a meeting from 10-11:30 a.m. on March 18 at the Orland HRA Room 217.
Feast at eighth annual spaghetti fundraiser
North Valley Christian Schools will hold their eighth annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser beginning at 5:30 on March 20 at Open Gate Christian Fellowship, 950 West Laurel St. in Willows. A featured auction item will be a Weatherby Vanguard 300 Magnum rifle. Tickets are $5 per person or $15 per family and may be purchased by calling the school at 865-4924 or from any student of Oak Tree Christian School or Providence Christian High School.
Support the Lions, support the community
The Hamilton City Lions Club will host their 20th Annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner from 4-8 p.m. March 20 at the Hamilton City Fire Station, First and Broadway Streets. An auction and raffle will also take place. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Take-out is also available.
'Our Time to Fly'
The third annual Soroptimist of Orland's "Our Time to Fly" will be from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Orland High School Multipurpose Room. The event is free to middle school girls of Glenn county. The program includes breakfast and lunch, and guest speakers discussing self confidence, skin care, self defense, domestic violence as well as games. New spring bird walks at the River Units
The Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge will hold a nature walk on March 26 just north of Hwy. 162 on the west side of the river and will route through a mixture of cottonwoods, grasslands and freshwater. Pre-registration is needed. Please contact the refuge at 934-2801.
