Be a sweetheart to needy animals
Town and Country Humane Society will host its Valentine Bingo with doors opening at 6 p.m. and games starting at 7 p.m. tonight at the Glenn County Fairgrounds. Fore more information call 865-3661 or 865-5605.
Strengthen your marriage
During the Valentine's Day Sunday morning service, learn "The Love That Makes a Marriage Go Great" by the Rev. Mike Gleason, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 903 First St., Orland. Childcare through kindergarten age will be provided.
Sing your heart out
The Orland Ministerial Association will hold a Sunday Sing at 6 p.m. on Valentine's Day at the Orland Grange Hall, located on the corner of Walker and Woodward streets. Childcare through kindergarten age will be provided. A dessert fellowship will be held afterward.
Show your spirit
The Orland High cheerleaders will host a mini-camp for K-8 grades from 3-5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, at the high school multipurpose room. Cost is $45, which includes a T-shirt campers will wear at the junior varsity basketball halftime on Friday. For more information, call 228-2293.
Annual summer camp being planned
The Glenn County 4-H Youth Development Program is planning it's annual summer camp for youth fourth to ninth grades and K-3 with a parent in attendance, set for June 24-27. Current 4-H membership is not required.
The cost is $65 per person and an additional $15 for non-club members. Deadline for reservations is April 1. Call 865-1107 or visit http://ceglenn.ucdavis.edu/.
Give the gift of hope
The American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days fundraiser is now in the process of taking orders through Feb. 26. Delivery will be March 24 at the Orland Fire Department for the Orland area. Flowers are available beginning at $10 and all funds raised benefit local residents.
Daffodils, the first flowers of spring, are a symbol of hoe for cancer patients and their families. To order, call Laura Blevins at 865-3266 or Shirley Russell at 865-9555.
Glenn County Fair Premium Books now available online
Premium Books for 2010 can now be accessed by logging on to glenncountyfair.org and clicking on the link, "Premium Book." Hard copies will be available in the fair office by the end of the month and copies will also be distributed to Willows and Orland chamber offices and libraries, as well as to schools throughout the county.
The 2010 Fair is scheduled for May 20-23. For more information, call 865-1168.
Graduate from the Police Citizens Academy
Residents of Orland and Willows interested in becoming part of Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) may sign up for the next academy scheduled to start on March 6 in Orland. The session will last six weeks, with graduation scheduled for April 17.
