Help a young boy in need
Landon Touvell is a six year old boy from Capay. Recently diagnosed with leukemia, a benefit tri-tip dinner is being held on from 5-7:30 p.m. this Friday at Capay Elementary School. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children 10 and under and are available at Capay Elementary, Corning High, Hamilton City High and Orland Fitness. Sign-ups for Orland Girls Softball 2010 will be held on at the Pizza Factory tonight from 6-8p.m., Sat. from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Jan. 27 from 6-8 p.m. Must be between the ages of 7-14. Bring a birth certificate and three proofs of residency. Coaches and parent volunteers needed. Call Jeff at 519-0842.
Orland community blood drive scheduled
A BloodSource blood drive will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Thurs. at the Federated Church of Orland, 709 First St. For more information, call 1-866-822-5663.
Parents rally for Sober Grad Raffle
Parents from the Orland, Willows, and Hamilton high schools are working with the Corning High School Parents Club - Cards in Action - to sponsor a 2010 Sober Grad Raffle.
The raffle has drawings for trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas, Napa and San Francisco, and for cash prizes of $500, $350 and $200.
Tickets are $20 and the drawing will be held Feb. 6.

Glenn County commodities available
Commodity distributions will be available from 9-11 a.m. on Friday in Orland at the Veterans Hall, Fourth and Shasta Streets and on Sat. in Hamilton City from 9-11 a.m. at the Evangelical Church, 490 Los Robles.
Celebrate the winter waterfowl migration
The 11th annual Snow Goose Festival will be held in Chico, Jan 28-31. Over 50 field trips and workshops ranging out to six counties will be available, celebrating the winter waterfowl migration in the North Sacramento Valley. The Orland Alumni Association will present a $1,000 scholarship through the Joe Gerber Undergraduate Scholarship Program on Feb. 27. Recipient must be a graduate of OHS and have established and maintained a 3.0 GPA as a full-time student at an accredited college, university or vocational/trade school. Forms are available at OHS and the Butte College Orland Center. Applications are due Feb. 5.
