Letter: Crystal Geyser would bring needed jobs to Orland

I cannot fathom those who wish to keep the economy here even more depressed. The 20 to 25 jobs created by Crystal Geyser would be a boost to the real estate market, to the grocer, to the barber and to the basket seller.

Studies of the water in Orland show that the potential draw down would be small. Actually there would be much less use and loss of water than happens with irrigation, whose main source is not the aquifer but the Orland-Artois Water District, Orland Unit Water District and the Glenn-Colusa Canal.

Granted a small portion of the 'rural way' would be lost. I find olive pollen, almond dust polluting the air at harvest time and the smell of manure not wonderful, but I would not ban the existence of them.

Orland needs more than these to continue to be a viable community. It is my sincere hope that such a clean industry will make Orland its home.
