Crime Briefs: Willows man arrested for domestic violence

A Willows man was arrested Monday on domestic violence charges after Glenn County sheriff's deputies were summoned to a Butte Street home just after midnight for what neighbors thought was a gun shot fired during a domestic dispute.

The sound they heard was Dannie Richard Myers, 28, reportedly breaking a mirror in the bedroom he shared with his girlfriend, officials said.

An unidentified woman was injured when the glass from the broken mirror rained down on her and cut her hand, according to Glenn County Sheriff Larry Jones.

The woman, who identified the man who broke the mirror as Myers, declined medical attention, the Sheriff's Department reported.

The woman claimed Myers was mad at her because she had gone to a friend's home the day before while he was at work, and had declined to engage in sexual activity the morning of the dispute, Jones reported.

Myers was arrested was booked into the Glenn County Jail for investigation of inflicting corporal injury on a cohabitant, and false imprisonment with violence.

His bail was set at $35,000.

 

Threats reportedly made

A Hamilton City man is in jail for suspicion of making threats to kill another man who had once been involved with his girlfriend.

Eric Chavera Leon, 32, was arrested by Glenn County sheriff's deputies at 1 p.m. Friday in Hamilton City.

He is a suspected member of a local gang, with a street moniker of "Grumpy."

In addition to the threat charge, Leon also was booked for suspicion of malicious mischief, vandalism and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, authorities said.

Deputies received a report that a man, identified as Leon, was yelling and threatening to stab someone in the 500 block of Los Robles Avenue.

The reported victim is 30-year-old Derrick Deon Crist of Hamilton City, officials said.

Leon was booked into Glenn County Jail. Bail was set at $154,000.
