Letter: Mayor Roundy thanks supporters
This letter is in appreciation of everyone who helped produce and participated in the Orland Centennial Christmas Celebration.
I am pleased with the number of people who attended this historic event. Thank you for making so many faces light up in remembering Orland’s past and present.
Thank you to the City of Orland office staff, public works crew, police department and VIPS, the fire department, library staff and Arts Commission.
Invaluable were the Centennial Committee, Orland Historical and Cultural Society, Alta Schmidt House Museum volunteers, OBIA, Avenue of Lights Committee, Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Library, Stony Creek Shire Wagon Rides, Salvagno’s, the Law Dawgs and Pistoleros and the vendors.
Recognition for entertainment goes to Mike Joyce, the Winton Bluegrass Band, Orland High and C.K. Price Middle schools’ music departments, Shelly Rossi, St. Stevens Youth Choir, Country Road Fiddlers and the Glenn Chorale.
Special recognition goes to Jere and Cathy Schmitke, Gene Russell, Jim Carroll, Earl Strand, Candice Anderson, Joyce Yancy, police Chief Bob Pasero, Steve Halsey, Marilyn Cochran, Jody Meza, Mike Joyce, Perry Johnson, John Viegas, Morgan Schmidt, Linda Watkins-Bennett, Butch Peterson, Jenice Coon, Tracey Quarne, Jeff Culbreath, Lydia Harris, Karen Gilmet, Claire Arano, Lisa Tietz, Theresa Foltz-Forrest, George and Rae Turnbull and, last but not least, Santa and Mrs. Claus.
What a great kickoff to the 2009 Orland centennial celebration that will culminate with the Labor Day Jubilee!
