Letter: Judge's comments rude
Judge Peter Twede is unbelievable.
Please people, go see Judge Peter Twede in action at the Orland or Willows courthouse.
On Dec. 20, at 1:30 p.m., while attending my husband's court hearing, my mother and friends were absolutely appalled at the way he conducted himself in the courtroom. His yelling at the people that go before him and the sarcastic remarks to them. They did not deserve the way he treated them. The people before him were very considerate and Judge Twede was not at all considerate to anyone. People put him in this job as judge, not to be God.
That's exactly the way it comes across, "I'm God. You listen to me."
Judge or not, treat people the way you want to be treated. It was totally uncalled for.
One thing Judge Twede should have done on my husband's case in court that day was to step down as the judge immediately because Judge Twede has known my husband and his ex-wife for 35 to 40 years. He also knew my husband when he worked for the Orland Police Department. I would call this a conflict of interest. They needed a judge who didn't know either one of them.
Even though the court hearing was not in my husband's favor, we both are going to keep a good attitude and stay positive.
Judge Twede, my prayer for you is that the good Lord would humble you in some way, someday soon, and when that day comes remember me, that I have prayed this prayer to come upon you, because this job you have been given has gone to your head.
I do realize that Judge Twede "does not care" that I have written this letter, because those words seem to be some of his favorite words in the courtroom, said over and over again, "I don't care."
A judge should be decent and fair and respectful.
I think Judge Twede has lost his quality and integrity as judge. Very sad.
