    Obituary Guidelines

The following guidelines have been adopted by Tri-County Newspapers to provide better service to our readers and local funeral homes. If you have any questions or comments about our obituary guidelines, please call Interim Editor Michael S. Green at 530-934-6800. Thank you.

There is no charge for the following services:

    • Death notices - Current and former residents of Colusa, Glenn and Tehama counties and immediate family only.

    • Memorial service list - Published for upcoming services taking place within the Tri-County area.

    • Local obituaries - Current Tri-County residents only. To ensure the information is accurate and verified, we only accept obituaries from the funeral home handling the arrangements. We do not accept information directly from family members or friends.

    • Digital photos - A head-and-shoulders portrait of the decedent may be published if submitted in high-resolution (200 dpi or greater) digital format. Most funeral homes have scanners available to digitize standard photographs, or they may refer you to a local copy center.

We work with the following funeral homes:

    • Colusa/Williams: McNary-Moore Funeral Service, 107 Fifth St. Colusa, CA 95932; 530-458-2111.

    • Willows: F.D. Sweet and Son Funeral Service, 114 N. Shasta St., Willows, CA 95988; 530-934-5524.

    • Orland: F.D. Sweet and Son Mortuary, 825 A St., Orland, CA 95963. 530-865-3349.

    • Corning: Hall Bros. Corning Mortuary, 902 Fifth St., Corning, CA 96021. 530-824-3792.

Obituaries will be edited to follow Associated Press and Tri-County Newspapers style. Customers who wish to submit copy with a more personal or religious tone and/or large photos may prefer to order a paid obituary.

    Paid obituaries

Tri-County Newspapers offers paid obituaries as a service to our readers. Paid obituaries appear as display ads in print and online. Unlike free obituaries, where the information comes from funeral homes, the text and photos for paid obituaries are provided to the newspaper by the customer.

For more information on paid obituaries, call 934-6800.

Print deadline for all obituaries/death notices
