Glenn Democrats open office

The public is invited to attend the grand opening of Glenn County's 2012 Democratic headquarters from 10 a.m. — 1 p.m. Oct. 6, at 10 E. Walker St., Orland.

Refreshments, voter registration and campaign items will be offered.

Volunteers are welcome to join the County Central Committee staff.

Church bazaar coming up

St. Dominic's 67th annual Church Bazaar will be held from 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Whitsett-Cook Building at the Glenn County Fairgrounds, 221 E. Yolo St., Orland.

Games, a cake walk, bingo and dinner is on the schedule. Admission and parking are free.

Raffle tickets are $1; games, 25 to 50 cents and dinner is $8.50 or $4 for children. Tri-tip or carnitas will be available.

Proceeds from the event benefit youth programs of St. Dominic's and St. Mary's Catholic Churches.

Celebrate wildlife refuges

The Sacramento and Delevan national wildlife refuges are celebrating their 75th and 50th anniversaries, respectively, from 10 a.m. — 4 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge, 752 Old Highway 99W, south of Willows.

Family and children's activities, airboat and carving demonstrations, duck drawing, and a Junior Duck Stamp display, as well as wildlife observation and birdwatching tours will be available.

Barn of Terror opens Oct. 12

The second annual Barn of Terror, hosted by the Orland 4-H Club, will be open from 7 p.m. - 11 p.m. Oct. 12-13, Oct. 19-20, Oct. 26-27, 25252 Walsch Ave., Orland.

Other attractions include the Dead Shed, Field of Fears, Munster Theater, Snack Shack and more.

The club will use proceeds to send Hallmark recordable story books to area service members before Christmas, allowing them to record their voices reading a story for their children or family.

Proceeds will also benefit the Orland Volunteer Fire Department, with $1 of every ticket sold Oct. 12 going directly to the fire department.
