Simple Gesture is Saturday
The next pick up of food for the Orland Food Pantry's Simple Gesture program will be Saturday. Pick-ups are always on the second Saturday of even-numbered months.
Simple Gesture is a door-to-door food collection program that helps provide a steady supply of food to Orland, Capay, Hamilton City, and Artois families in need.

Sew for Soldiers Oct. 20
Fabric donations, red, white and blue preferred, are welcomed for the Sew for Soldiers event from 10 a.m. — 4 p.m. on Oct. 20 at Willows Memorial Hall, 525 W. Sycamore St., Willows.
Glenn County 4-H members will be sewing pillowcases to send to one of Glenn County's military members.
Pillowcases kits will be provided, all you need to bring is your sewing machine.

Country Pumpkins now open
Country Pumpkins is open daily from 10 a.m. — 6 p.m. through Oct. 31, at 7152 Highway 32, Orland.
Attractions include pumpkin field, the Corn Tire, Hay Pyramid, Hay Slides, Critter Coral, Observation Bee Hive, and the Corn Maze.
Local 4-H groups host weekends at the maze with the entire $3 admission to the maze donated directly to Glenn County 4-H clubs.
The Haunted Maze is open from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. every Friday and Saturday in October. Cost is $8. Not recommended for children under 10.

4-H volunteers needed
4-H volunteers are needed to work with youth ages 5-19 in areas such as scrapbooking, rocketry, gardening, fishing, bowling, geology, outdoor adventures, cooking, and arts and crafts.
Volunteers do not need to be a parent to volunteer.

Blood drive scheduled
A community blood drive will be held from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Federated Church of Orland, 709 First St.
To give blood, donors must be in generally good health, free from cold symptoms for at least 48 hours; be at least 17 years-old or 16 with parental consent; and weigh at least 110 pounds.
Must bring photo identification.
