Community Briefs: Fair benefit dinner Saturday

Friends of the Glenn County Fair will hold a Fair Benefit BBQ Dinner on Saturday with a no host social hour beginning at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. A raffle and auction will also be held.

Tickets are $30 per person and include ribs, chicken and all of the trimmings.

Hall of Fame nominations

The Orland Unified School District is accepting nominations for the Glenn County Educators' Hall of Fame in 2012.

Nominees may represent any segment of education, with service to the Orland schools as a teacher, bus driver, administrator, board member, community volunteer, etc.

A board sub-committee will review nominations from the public and make a final recommendation to the full board.

Nominations must be received in the district office, 1320 Sixth St.,by 4:30 p.m. on March 30.

 

Little League opener Saturday

Ceremonies for Orland Boys Little League opening day starts at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lely Park.

There will be tri-tip sandwiches and Round Table Pizza available for purchase, as well as 50/50 raffle tickets.

Baseball games start at noon and 2 p.m.

All proceeds go to the league.

 

Business expo is April 14

The Best of the West Business Expo will take place from 10 a.m. — 4 p.m. April 14 at the Glenn County Fairgrounds, 221 E. Yolo St., Orland.

Businesses, crafters, entrepreneurs and service organizations are invited to participate.

Spaghetti fundraiser set

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser to benefit the Southwest Liver Transplant Fund in honor of Janice Sumahit will take place from 4-8 p.m. April 14 at the Orland Eagles Hall, 6381 Newville Road.

A bake sale and raffle will also be held.

Tickets are $8 and children under 12 are $5. Meal includes spaghetti, salad, bread and beverage. Take-out will also be available.
