Make conservation part of energy plan

In 2001, Vice President Dick Cheney said, "Conservation may be a sign of personal virtue, but it should not be the basis of comprehensive energy policy." With conservation not in an energy plan for the country, one suspects motivation other than honorable is at work.

When the Honda Civic came out, more than 20 years ago, it got around 50 miles per gallon. If the auto companies used the technology they have, it is my understanding, we would not need any oil from the Persian Gulf.

I often hear the term "environmentalist" scoffed. A true environmentalist is one who, responsibly, tries to save and improve our environment for us and future generations. What can be wrong with that? All of us can do something. Everything is connected.
