Elma (Sally) Henry

A memorial service is scheduled for Elma Henry of Willows at 10 a.m., Saturday, at the First Baptist Church, 154 N. Lassen St., Willows. A fellowship lunch will follow in the French Room of the church where Sally has been an active member for more than five decades.

Elma, 102, died on July 3, 2008. She was born in 1906 in Calumet, MI.

Elma married Charles Henry in 1935 in Oakland. In 1948 the family came to Willows where she went to work for the Glenn County Recorder’s Office. She retired in 1970 as Chief Deputy Recorder. She was a volunteer for Girl Scouts, PTA, First Baptist Church and other charitable and civic activities.

Survivors include her two daughters Willodean Oswald of Portland, OR and Lora Lee Knight of Willows; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles “Smokey” in 1992.

In lieu of flowers may be made to the First Baptist Church of Willows or a charity of their choice. Arrangements are under the direction of F.D. Sweet and Son Mortuary in Willows.
