Letter: Vote cast against Barrera
The voters in Glenn County will have a chance to correct a mistake that was made almost four years ago. That mistake was electing Mr. Arturo Barrera for County Superintendent of Schools. The majority of the voters in that election opted for one of the other two candidates in that race and Mr. Barrera was elected with less then half the vote. It is obvious that most of the voters in Glenn County wanted someone other then Arturo Barrera.
Mr. Barrera has shown us that he can alienate the other superintendents that he should be working with, he can fire or chase off valuable personnel from the county office then replace them with under-qualified "yes" men, and he can get his own salary raised to a level far above any previous superintendent.
We now have an opportunity to correct that wrong. Tracey Quarne is a man that has proven over the last four years that he is fiscally conservative and that he has the ability to build good working relationships where there was formerly strife.
I strongly encourage every voter in Glenn County to look at the public record of both of these candidates and decide for yourself who you want in charge of the education of your children or grandchildren.
