Letter: County queen wishes all a Happy New Year
I would like to be one of the first people to wish you a Happy New Year.
It has been so nice to be back in Glenn County these last few weeks. I have had a great stay and my only wish is that I could have stayed longer. It was so nice to be out and about in Glenn County. My first weekend home was kicked off with the Avenue of Lights were I was lucky enough to greet visitors to the North Pole Lodge. It was so nice to see everyone's smiling faces.
I received many holiday greetings and received lots of hugs from the children; I even had one toddler plop a nice sticky candy cane kiss on my cheek when he gave me a hug. I even got to be a greeter with the first Miss Glenn County, Shirley Ceccon.
The Avenue of Lights was fantastic and I would like to thank everyone who helped put it together and for giving me the opportunity to help out in just the smallest way. I also had the opportunity to read Christmas stories at the story time at the Orland Library. I read three books and then helped with activity time; we made a Christmas tree that was also a shape tree.
The new children's librarian is doing a great job and I had a blast helping her out which included some singing and dancing. It made me remember that libraries aren't just for studying for finals; I can't wait to jump into a good book when I am back to my dorm in Oregon.
College life is different, but it is exciting and I am having a blast. I will be home in April for spring break and then again in May for fair where I will be giving up my title as Miss Glenn County. Feel free to add me on Facebook or send me an email at kpendergrass@wou.edu
Happy New Year Glenn County!
