Letter: Centennial story came up short

Upon reading the story of the Orland Centennial, we could not help but notice that there was something missing in the article as the city council stated it wanted to use the Christmas season to help set off the centennial.

That day, a special couple ( Mr. and Mrs.  Santa Claus) made a trip from the North Pole to help kick off this very important day. Mr. and Mrs. Claus, who are voluntary representatives for the Orland Chamber of Commerce, were available from noon to 5 p.m. in and around the park as well as visiting many of the participating merchants on 4th Street. They later met with Chief Pasaro, to be led in a wonderful sleigh furnished by Doc Bogart for their comfort in the  Chamber of Commerce’s annual light parade.

Basically, we found it odd that they were not mentioned with the many other characters who attended that day.
