Learn to prune and care for your trees

The University of California Cooperative Extension will hold a pruning/winter care of the home orchard workshop from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at the Historic Mills Orchard in Hamilton City. Local Red Cross recruiting volunteers

The Glenn County branch of the American Red Cross, which is seeking more volunteers, will offer training to anyone who is interested in helping respond to local emergencies at its meeting on Thursday, 6:30-830 p.m., at the Willows Fire Department, 445 S. Butte St.

Learn about migrating waterfowl

The Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge will host a birding tour from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday. Seating is limited, so sign up early! There is no cost for workshops but a $3 vehicle pass to the refuge is required. For details call Lora Haller at 934-2801.

Breakfast fundraiser for Melissa

Please join in raising funds for Melissa Romano, who is in need of a liver transplant. A breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday in the Arts and Crafts Building at the Glenn County Fairgrounds. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. The 11th annual Snow Goose Festival will be held in Chico, Jan 28-31. Commodity distributions will be available from 9-11 a.m. on Jan. 22 in Orland at the Veterans Hall, Fourth and Shasta Streets and on the Jan. 23 in Hamilton City from 9-11 a.m. at the Evangelical Church, 490 Los Robles. Scholarship money available to Orland graduates
