Community Briefs: Education board meets
A special meeting of the Glenn County Board of Education originally scheduled for today will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, at the Office of Education, 311 S. Villa St., Willows. The purpose of the special meeting is to finalize adoption of the five trustee area maps and boundary descriptions for submission to the Glenn County Board of Supervisors.
Informational night planned
Orland High School Counseling Department will hold an informational meeting for the parents of the Class of 2016.
Eighth Grade Parent Night is Feb. 29 in the Media Center. Representatives from OHS clubs will be available from 6-6:30 p.m. providing information and answering questions. At 6:30, the counselors will cover graduation requirements, career technical education, college entrance requirements and the registration process at Orland High School.
Spaghetti fundraiser soon
North Valley Christian School's 10th annual Spaghetti Dinner and Auction will be held March 17 at Willows Memorial Hall, 525 W. Sycamore St., Willows.
The auction preview will begin at 5 p.m., with dinner being served at 5:30. The cost is $5 per person or $20 per family.
The featured auction item will be a Ruger M77 Hawkeye Rifle. Other prizes, gift certificates and baked goods will also be auctioned.

Fair benefit dinner March 24
Friends of the Glenn County Fair will hold a Fair Benefit BBQ Dinner March 24 with a no host social hour beginning at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7. A raffle and auction will also be held.
Tickets are $30 per person and include ribs, chicken and all of the trimmings.

Fun run slated for May 5
The Glen County Resource Conservation District is organizing its first annual Run Your Tail Off 5K/10K event. The event will bring awareness to the locale watersheds, provide an athletic venue for avid runners, create an opportunity for families looking for an outdoor experience and allow for a fundraising activity for the Glenn County RCD Connects with Kids Program.
Scheduled for May 5, the event coincides with the locally and nationally recognized May is Watershed Awareness Month..
The event will take place at the Buckhorn Recreation Area at Black Butte Lake in Orland.
