• What part of your job would you gladly give up? The volatility of investments.
• If you could go back in time, when would it be? I’d go back to when I was born, the 1950s. Things were simple then.
• What is your favorite part about a typical day? After 5 p.m., when things quiet down and I can catch up on work. Without the phones ringing, I get more done in an hour than most of the day.
• What do you like most about Orland? It’s a great town. We’ve got hard working, down-to-earth people who aren’t impressed with your car or where you live; and we have family values too.
• What would you change about Orland? There are a lot of tired, old buildings I’d like two see replaced.
• Most prized possession: I don’t think about possessions much. My health.
• If you won the lottery, what would you buy first? I have nieces and nephews; I’d set up college funds for them.
• Favorite TV show: “Leave It to Beaver.”
• Worst TV show: “Survivor.” Do people really act like that?
• Favorite sports team: San Francisco Giants.
• First job: Clerk at a liquor store.
• Describe yourself in three words? Committed family man.
• How do you unwind? I play video games.
• Hobbies/interests: Fly fishing.
• Pets: Two dogs.
• Favorite thing to do on a rainy day: Have a fire in the wood stove and watch the History Channel.
• Dream job: I’m doing it.
• Favorite food: Italian
• If you were reincarnated as an animal, what would you be and why? I’d be a Labrador retriever. I have one. It’s a loyal dog and always playful.
• If you could spend the day with someone famous, who would it be and why? Franklin D. Roosevelt. He inherited a difficult economy during the Depression and had to roll his sleeves up and jump in and solve a lot of problems. He stepped into World War II and made difficult choices on United States’ involvement on top of battling polio and losing the use of his legs.
• Favorite music: New rock. I listen to Z-Rock in the car.
• Favorite superhero: Batman
• Favorite book: “The Warren Buffet Way,” because it opens my perspective on the greatest investors. I like these kinds of books, because I get insight on what other people do.
• Favorite movie: “Lord of the Rings”
• Worst movie ever made: It was so bad, I can’t remember the name. When I think about it, I want to forget it.
• Biggest fear: I’m not afraid of dying, but I don’t want to die before I see my kids get married and have families of their own.
