Letter gave 'false witness'

Dear Editor,

I have served on the Glenn County Board of Education for 17 years. Never have I witnessed the animosity and false accusations that I have seen recently.
Just a couple weeks ago, I read a letter in the newspaper accusing three of the board members, those who support (Superintendent of Schools Arturo) Barrera, of illegally meeting in closed session. I cannot imagine where that misinformation came from.
This is very offensive to me personally, and I am not speaking for the board but as an individual. I want the readers to know that there never were any illegal closed sessions. When we have closed session on interdistrict student transfers, they are agendized. When we have reason to meet with Superintendent Barrera or one of his employees, we schedule meetings individually or by twos. I personally know that Mr. Barrera’s staff works diligently to avoid even the appearance of Brown Act violations.
Those who know me personally know that I would not intentionally do something illegal. To bear false witness against me is irresponsible.
